Partnership with the University of Western Sydney to create capacities in fire safety research

On the 15 November 2019, a group of ARC Training Centre researchers from Western Sydney University (WSU) lead by A/Prof. Swapan Saha and Dr. Yaping He visited our group.

During the meeting, A/Prof. Saha introduced the current research conducted in WSU and discussed future collaboration between WSU and UNSW including sharing the fire testing facility for visiting PhD students. The idea of building methodologies to study toxicity and smoke testing standards for cladding building materials has also been discussed in the meeting.

After the meeting, we organized a lab tour for the visiting researchers to showcase the lab-scale fire testing equipment available within UNSW including the unique cone calorimeter, which is integrated with a powerful Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) gas analyser.
